Score 93/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2020

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is soft, open-knit and inviting. Succulent dark cherry/plum fruit, chocolate, licorice, spice, leather and espresso give this juicy Cabernet tons of appeal. Winemaker Sally Johnson did a terrific job of capturing all the best 2017 had to offer, while avoiding the pitfalls of this very challenging year. (AG)

Composed of 92.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from 47% Sonoma County and 53% Napa County. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with pronounced notes of blackcurrant pastilles, baked black plums and mulberries plus hints of bay leaves, pencil lead, cedar chest and fallen leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is softly textured and laden with baked black berries and plums flavors, supported by refreshing acidity and finishing with loads of herbal and earth accents. 5,848 cases were made.

More blackcurrant, cassis, tobacco, and damp earth notes emerge from the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, another medium to full-bodied, balanced, elegant wine in the lineup. With wonderful purity of fruit and a seamless, sumptuous style on the palate, give bottles a year or so and it's going to drink nicely for 10-15 years.
