A concentrated, tightly-wound wine, the medium to dark-ruby-colored 2000 Richebourg has a dark berry-laden nose. Powerful and dense, it is highly structured, crammed with black berries, and deep. This firm, backward, medium-bodied offering has loads of edgy tannin that are, at present, dominated by its impressive fruit. Projected maturity: 2005-2012. Incredibly rich and lavish in its forward, generous yet intense fruit with powerful flavors underpinned by dusty tannins and a superbly long finish. Structured, vibrant and pungent. This is really quite dense for the vintage though it should drink well after a decade or so of bottle age. An incredible success for the vintage.
