Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, May 2025

This is glorious – a pristine example of aged white Burgundy that is singing. The nose is clean, tight and mineral, with honeyed tones and bright citrus. On the palate, it shows such tension – the wine linear, driven by zingy acidity and a mineral undercurrent, yet with sumptuous, waxy weight. It’s mouth-wateringly fresh, with a long sherbet-scented finish. A gorgeous wine, it’s almost unbelievable this is over two decades old.

Domaine Robert Ampeau

The epitome of old-school Burgundy, the Meursault-based Domaine Robert Ampeau crafts traditional wines, both red and white. Today run by Michel Ampeau, the property’s wines are – unlike most producers today – only released when they are ready to drink, often with 20-plus years in bottle.
