50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 6–12 months in stainless-steel tanks. Winemaker Eric Boissenot. RS 0.4 g/l. Vegan. Certified HVE. Mature ruby colour. Correct, mature, light-red bordeaux of a quality that would just squeeze in to the bottom of the Cru Bourgeois classification. Quite a bit of acidity in evidence, though. Strictly for claret fans. Those raised on New World reds should avoid. Quite a chewy finish still. (JR)

Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose of the 2017 Caronne Ste Gemme is spicy with a core of baked plums and cassis plus charcoal and olives touches. Medium-bodied, it is quite herbal on the palate with a chewy, bitter finish.

The 2017 Caronne Ste Gemme has a clean, quite crisp bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit laced with cedar and light tobacco aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a very extracted entry. Unfortunately, I think there is just a touch of greenness extracted simultaneously. Maybe it will improve with bottle age? I am not sure.

Deep cherry red. Sweet and spicy on the nose. Silky and fresh on the palate. Straightforward, very drinkable and should be approachable early on. (JH)
