Score 95-97/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

The king of the cellar is the 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru, a magical wine in the making that unwinds to reveal deep fruit tones evocative of raspberries and cherries, complemented by notions of peonies, violets, blood orange, forest floor and burning embers. Full-bodied, layered and seamless, it's deep and multidimensional, with exquisitely refined structuring tannins and an ineffable sense of completeness. Concluding with a long, perfumed finish, it's one of the domaine's finest Chambertin to date.

There are two and a half barrels of the 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru this year, with 50% whole bunch and 100% new oak. This has a lovely saline/black olive tincture on the nose that gains volume with aeration, very well defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, silky smooth in texture with a gorgeous saline finish that soaks up the oak without any problem.
