But it accomplishes this through density of extract and superb concentration yet never loses its fine sense of balance. It offers superb spice and buckets of sappy pinot extract with penetrating, powerful flavors of surprisingly good precision, given the impressive size of this wine. Classy, long and beautiful. Jadot has been on quite a roll as of late with their Bonnes Mares and this is just one more great example. Consistent notes.

The red and black currant-scented 1999 Bonnes Mares (domaine) is light to medium-bodied and foursquare. This concentrated, intense, blackberry-flavored wine is unyielding and firm.
