With fruit from the La Morra township, the 2010 Barolo Fossati is tight and tonic with lean muscle and masculine appeal. The bouquet focuses in on a few excellent qualities, mainly black currant, licorice and white truffle. These characteristics are presented in a refreshingly frank and matter-of-fact manner that is not easily achieved with the finicky and often mercurial Nebbiolo grape. The 2010 vintage is especially fine-tuned and focused. Of Cascina Adelaide's new releases, Barolo Fossati is the most impressive and engaging. Lingering oak tones will integrate as the wine continues it evolution.
La Morra. Mid ruby with broad watery rim with orange tinges. Sweet-sour fruit nose and the palate just narrowly escapes being jammy. (WS)
Very aromatic with tar, earth, berry and meat character. Full body with round, silky tannins and a long finish. Very flavorful. Hard not to drink now.
