Two corked bottles were bad enough, and I was unable to secure a third prior to this report. Judgment reserved. Apr 2002, www.robertparker.com

Medium ruby-red. Aromas of currant, blueberry, menthol, leather, cedar and mint. Sweet, soft and silky; this will be approachable early. Finishes with substantial but ripe tannins. Like the Saint-Pierre, under the same ownership, this '99 comes across as far sweeter and lusher than the rather ungiving, dry '98.

About the producer

Ch. Gloria
Gloria

The modest Ch. Gloria was only created in the 1940s, when Henri Martin – a cooper – purchased some vines. With parcels dotted in amongst the region’s Classed Growths, it produces impressive wines. Today it's managed by Vanessa and Jean Triaud (Henri Martin’s granddaughter and grandson-in-law).
