Score 95/100 · Drink 2015-2030, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Sep 2015

Showing similar to last year, the 2003 Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette is a beautiful Hermitage that offers classic currants and plum nuances to go with spice, chocolate, wood smoke and charcoal on the nose. Harvested August 19-29 (harvest here normally stretches into October if that gives you any inclination of the vintage), it's full-bodied, rich, textured and balanced, with solid purity of fruit and sweet tannin. Drink it anytime over the coming 10-15 years.

Medium ruby. Exotic aromas of ripe fig, mulberry, plum and dark cherry complicated by resiny and floral nuances. Concentrated and powerful on the palate, with a dense, chewy texture and very ripe berry and plum flavors. Finishes ripe but quite tannic, with a deep note of bitter chocolate.

Medium ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry liqueur and spearmint; faintly medicinal. Superripe, fat and sweet; a bit porty and undifferentiated despite possessing adequate acidity. But undeniably rich, chocolatey and deep, with lurking minerality. Shows the hot side of 2003 even more obviously than does the Cote-Rotie Seigneur de Maugiron. Finishes very long, with huge, powerful tannins. Perhaps in an awkward stage today.
