This is one of the first Cabernet Sauvignons from Napa that I cut my teeth on in the early 1970s. Their 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Vineyards shows a deep ruby purple color, and compact but ripe blackcurrant fruit with minerality and spice. The wine is medium to full-bodied and well-endowed, but meant to be a more elegant and restrained take on Napa viticulture. The finish is long, the tannins sweet and the wine capable of lasting 10-15 or more years.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep, powerful and intense. Wild cherry, underbrush, gravel, savory herbs, smoke and earthy notes give the 2014 much of its potent, virile profile. There is plenty to look forward to as the 2014 develops in bottle. This is a lovely wine with classically inspired proportions and plenty of structure.
