Tasting notes
(vinified with 40% whole clusters): Good medium red. Very reduced initially but took on sexy notes of strawberry, spices, mocha and truffle with air. In a fat, sweet style, showing good finesse of texture but still a bit blocked by reduction. There's good energy here but today the building tannins dominate the fruit. I find this a bit disjointed in the early going, but it's not at all rustic for Nuits-Saint-Georges from the south side of the village. I'd lay this one down for at least a few years.

The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Procés was showing more wood on the nose compared to Drouhin's other barrel samples and I double-checked by tasting from both one- and two-year-old barrels. The palate is medium-bodied and shows commendable finesse, the acidity well judged, although the oak just seems to be more palpable on the finish than the fruit. Let's see how this turns out in bottle, since it felt a little awkward and unsettled.
Sample. Bright garnet. Fairly light nose. Rather aggressive acidity and tannin – a bit chunky overall rather than seductive, but it should get there. (JR)

Joseph Drouhin is one of the largest and most famous producers in Burgundy, making both domaine and négociant wines. It remains family-owned and run, now in the hands of the fourth generation.
