Score 89/100 · Drink 2017-2029, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2015 Pinot Gris Roche Calcaire is sourced not only from the younger Windsbuhl vines, but also the Rotenberg and the Heimbourg, and it stopped fermentation too early, so it ended up with 13.84% alcohol and 12.1 grams of residual sugar. This is a full-bodied, round and lush but elegant and well-structured wine with great finesse and vitality. Aged in old foudres, it shows a relaxed and breathing nature, great elegance and finesse. The 2015 is well defined and structured. "Pinot-Gris is not as aromatic as other grape varieties from Alsace and thus low yields are essential to assert its character," says Olivier, adding that "Pinot-Gris needs strong terroir and quality plant material!"

I love the oyster shell notes. Quite rich and full-bodied but also clean and dry. The finale is a mineral masterpiece, and this surely has more than a decade of aging potential! Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Jun 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
