Named after the old winery on the estate, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place comes all from a single block of the estate vineyard and 45-year-old vines. Fermented in small lots and with an extended maceration, it spent 21 months in 90% new French oak before bottling. Its deep purple color is followed by gorgeous notes of crème de cassis, leafy herbs, lead pencil shavings, and tobacco. It’s deep, medium to full-bodied, incredibly pure, and perfectly balanced on the palate. It has the classic purity and elegance of the 2016 vintage as well as ample underlying structure. Hide bottles for 3-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades. These releases come from Pam Starr and Evyn Cameron, who own a larger 80-acre vineyard. While they sell most of their fruit, they produce tiny amounts of the Crocker & Starr wines.
