Score 89/100 · Drink 2016-2027, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2016

The 2012 Ségla is plump, juicy and forward, with the lovely sense of immediacy that defines the year. Hints of tobacco, mint, dried herbs and leather add nuance on the expressive, open-knit finish. Silky tannins add to an overall impression of finesse. This is a gorgeous, entry-level Margaux with plenty of near and medium-term appeal.

The 2012 Ségla, the second wine of Rauzan-Ségla, is soft, fruity, dense ruby/purple, with some nice plum, blackcurrant and cherry fruit and well as hints of earth, licorice and spice. A strong effort for a second wine, this round and generous 2012 should drink well for 12-15 years.
