The 2016 Estate is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. To be honest, I found it excessively reduced on the nose, and even with decanting, it felt as if the aromatics were subdued. The palate is better, offering sappy red berry fruit laced with fennel and a touch of white pepper, the Syrah overriding the Cabernet and Merlot, and hints of blue fruit toward the finish. So-so.

A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Shiraz and 9% Merlot, the 2016 Estate Red begins with dark red and black fruits. The nose immediately offers aromas of dark cherry, blackberry compote, with subtle purple flowers dusted by subtle brown baking spices of cinnamon and cardamom. On the palate, the wine is structured with a lush fruit bouquet and has a firm tannic grip. Full-bodied and with a long and focused finish, it will last for years to come. 56,880 bottles were made from wine that spent 22 months in French oak, of which 40%, were brand-new barrels.
