The 2019 Pinot Noir B.A. Thieriot Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1991 and 1994 on Goldridge loam at 1,000 feet in elevation. It has a medium ruby color and flinty tones that unfurl to cranberries, rhubarb, blood orange, iron, mushrooms and decaying leaves. Medium-bodied, silky and seamless, it has an intense core of iron-laced fruit and a long, earthy finish. Offer it another 3-5 years in bottle. 114 cases were made.

Some lovely plummy and black-cherry aromas with notes of toasted sage, rose petals and suede as well. Medium-bodied with bright acidity that drives the energy and delicate fruit across the palate. Fine, silky tannins. Floral finish. Real precision and grace here.
The 2019 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard Estate is intensely savory and mineral-driven, with the fruit very much in the background. A wine of subtlety, the Thieriot is a Pinot that will reveal its charms very slowly in the coming years. I expect it will always remain taut in feel. Dried herbs, mint, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and white pepper add an attractive upper register that is incredibly distinctive. (AG)
