The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a sweet and quite candied bouquet, plush in style, more like a 2022 than a 2021! Quite sensual, if just missing some complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that exert just the right amount of grip. Good density, though not overpowering, this delivers a pleasing pepperiness on the finish, though it is slowly dismantled by air in the glass, depriving it of Grand Cru pedigree. I believe Méo-Camuzet have crafted much better than this in other vintages. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Real depth and interest and a wine I was forced(!) to swallow. Long and rich and exciting with minty notes. (JR)

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru conveys something sedate on the nose, not lacking in energy or tension, but quite refined and not needing to show off. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit laced with white pepper on the entry, orange rind and marmalade, though it scarpers out the door a bit quickly on the finish like the Chaumes. This is one cuvée that I feel is nixed by the growing season; a little dilution on the finish.
