Three separate parcels of vines on sandy clay-limestone soils. One part in Aux Réas, the other in La Rivière. Vines planted from 1929 to 1964. Pigeage at the end of fermentation. 12 months in oak, 20% new. Cuvée assembled just before bottling. Cask sample. Lots of plush red and pink fruit, red cherry and raspberry. But there’s a rather hoarse dryness on the finish. Slightly drying. (MH)

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village is more backward on the nose compared to the Fixin: blackberry, undergrowth and touch of wilted iris petal. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This feels lithe and sensual, the oak neatly integrated with a silky smooth finish. This should be a peach once in bottle.
