The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet that seems to spring forth with aeration, offering blackberry, raspberry and cassis aromas laced with potpourri and subtle earthy notes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and well-integrated new oak. There is fine mineralité on the finish, which feels very long. This is promising.

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes is also showing especially well this year, exhibiting aromas of raspberries, candied peel, licorice, rose petals and rich soil tones, framed by a deft application of creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety and textural, with a fleshy and enveloping attack, fine depth at the core and a long, nicely defined finish. This is a gourmand Feusselottes from Tremblay, but it's beautifully balanced.
40% new oak, 40% whole bunch. Barrel sample, not yet racked. Floral and utterly Chambolle, the scent balanced by super-fine tannins. Delicate in the extreme but not thin or dilute. Very finely textured yet persistent. A dark, dusky beauty on the palate, paper-fine, subtle, dark-red fruit on the finish with the elegance of minerality on the aftertaste. (JH)
