The second wine, the 2003 Alter Ego de Palmer, is a soft, round, fully mature effort. Soft berry fruit, incense, bay and tobacco leaf characteristics along with a delicious, medium-bodied mouthfeel make for a wine to drink over the next several years.

Light greyish crimson. Smells of butterscotch. Tart end. Awfully simple and tarty. (Average group score: 14.6) (JR)

Sweet, juicy, round nose. Very very ripe notes on the nose, even some overripe notes, and extremely little tannin. Almost absurdly simple – just too soupy and low in acidity with some green notes. (JR)
