Score 93/100 · Drink 2007-2025, Robert Parker, Apr 2002

This is a strikingly delineated St.-Emilion with an opaque ruby/purple color, and aromas of black currants, blackberries, and wet steel/liquified minerals. The layered, rich, intense 1999 possesses superb fruit purity and medium to full body. This is one of the most concentrated and potentially longest-lived wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2025.

Offer loads of new wood, but ripe fruit comes through as well. Full-bodied, with mouthpuckering tannins. A bit too much new wood, but impressive and opulent. Might dry out with more bottle age?¿'89/'99 Bordeaux blind retrospective (2009). Drink now. 2,500 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2010
