The 2013 Cabernet Franc (83% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in about 40% new French oak) is a beauty. It is not the biggest wine, by any means, and in 2015 it is still showing a certain austerity, but some nice, spicy, new saddle leather notes intermixed with forest floor, roasted herbs and red and blue fruits are present in this medium-bodied, slightly tight and coiled, but complex, lighter style of Cabernet Franc. Drink it over the next decade.

The 2013 Cabernet Franc is fabulous. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, spice, menthol, mocha and new leather are all super-expressive in the glass. Rich, sumptuous and varietally expressive, the 2013 hits all the right notes. The Franc is one of the hidden jewels in the range, not to mention a hugely positive surprise in this range. (AG)
