1990 Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Chaboeufs 1er Cru

I have never had a Nuits St.-Georges-Les Chaboeufs as great as this 1990 offering from J.J. Confuron. Consumers may remember how rustic, thin, and uninteresting Confuron's wines were a few years ago. This offering, which boasts an opaque black/purple color and a sensational nose of roasted black-cherries and spicy, toasty new oak, is exceptionally concentrated, tasting as if it were the essence of Pinot Noir. The wine is crammed with glycerin and lavishly rich, super-ripe fruit. There are considerable tannins in the long, impressive finish.
