54% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. 35% new oak for 12 months. Mid ruby. Lightly and attractively herbaceous. Really pretty and Margaux-like (funny that). Quite delicate and utterly drinkable with excellent freshness and balance. GV (JH)

The 2014 La Tour de Mons fees reticent and rather anonymous on the nose at first. Perhaps this is going through a dumb phase? The palate is medium-bodied with rather stringy tannin, chewy towards the finish whereas its peers demonstrate more finesse. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Tasted blind. Rich, polished and exciting with lots of energy. Well layered and vibrant. (JR)
