Aromas of pear, white flowers and freshly baked bread introduce the 2019 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Au Bout du Monde, a medium-bodied, charming and incisive wine, its pretty core of fruit underpinned by tangy acids, concluding with chalky grip.

From Cormot – ‘the end of the world’ with cliffs and a waterfall – ‘wonderful for walks’. Chardonnay and a little bit of Aligoté. PYCM has had this since 2015. Tank sample. More lifted than the Bourgogne and tighter. Limestone and still very taut. More lemon than grapefruit. Marked acidity and different from most of the PYCM family. (JR)
