This is my second bottle of 1959 Pichon Baron and I think better than the first. Precocious red berry fruit laced with mint and juniper, cedar emerging with time, this has plenty of vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe tannins, quite structured for a 1959 and perhaps a little harder in texture than its peers. Yet this is fresh with fine substance, crisp with hints of blood orange on the aftertaste. (NM)

This is one of the finest old vintages of Pichon-Longueville I have tasted (better as well as less evolved than the 1961, and a wine I have rated between 87 and 90).
