Score 90/100 · Drink 2004-2020, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Oct 2016

Fully mature, the 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape offers elegant, medium-bodied aromas and flavors, with an almost Pinot Noir character in its forest floor, dried sweet red fruits, spice and hint of olive nuances. A classic, later vintage that featured a lot of mistral (the cold wind of the region), harvest started on the 18th of September and stretched all the way into October. Drink this elegant, fine, classic Chateauneuf over the coming 3-4 years.

The 1999 Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape possesses a ripe, exuberant nose of roasted herbs, spice, licorice, fig and plum sauce that veers towards the roasted spectrum. The palate is medium to full bodied with a plump, savory texture, sweet fruit and a long finish. These should be consumed over the next 5 or so years.

Bright, saturated deep red. Sappy, slightly jammy aromas of cherry and raspberry syrup. Silky, sweet and layered in the mouth; a '99 with impressive ripeness and volume. Lovely ripe balancing acidity. Finishes quite long, with smooth tannins.
