The Chambolle Musigny 2007 has a very pure bouquet: dark cherries, violets and a punnet of freshly picked strawberries, all well defined and quite precocious for a 2007. The palate is open for business! Plenty of sorbet-fresh red fruit on the nose, quite rounded tannin with dark berries and a touch of citrus fruit, although I feel that it is missing a little finesse on the finish. Probably at its peak now, though I suspect it will continue to give pleasure for several more years.

Light, a little unripe, green olives. Hard, unbalanced, bitter. Mean, poor. (After finding out what this was, I returned to it, in case I had missed something. I don't think I did. Disappointing.) (RH)
Good medium red. Musky red fruits and underbrush on the nose. Lush, creamy and sweet; very rich and smooth for this village wine but without quite the lift or refined tannins of the potentially superb 2008.
A wonderfully pure and entirely classic nose of red pinot fruit with blue berry and mineral hints that are picked up by the ripe, rich, detailed and extremely fresh middle weight flavors that are racy and energetic, supported by firm but ripe tannins and excellent length. This is a very calm and harmonious effort that is very Chambolle.
