Score 92/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2014

Jadot’s 2001 Corton Pougets is beginning to show the early signs of tertiary complexity and nuance. Today, the 2001 is beautifully perfumed, lifted and gracious.

Medium red. Raspberry, cherry, menthol, herbs and earth on the nose. Bright, nicely delineated flavors of red fruits, minerals and spices. Brisk, shapely and youthful, with a slightly dry-edged, minerally back end.

Loads of cherry jam can be found in the nose of the 2001 Corton-Pougets. Ample, expansive, medium-bodied, and studded with sweet bing cherries, this wine's long finish also reveals a firm backbone armed with a tannic edge. Projected maturity: 2006-2012. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

Sweet, beguiling, round and charming, but not for the long term. Tannins underneath and quite light bodied. Not Grand Cru weight. Charming, but not for the very long term. (cask sample) (JR)
