Score 98/100 · Drink 2024-2058, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2024

The 2018 Old Patch Shiraz has fully settled into itself and is a complex, supple, very fine wine. It is balanced, middleweight, even erring on lightweight! The tannins exist within the fruit here: infused like blood in water, indistinguishable from the fruit. In terms of impressiveness, this is up there with the 2007 4 Acres for me, in its delicacy, balance and subtlety. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Score 100/100 · James Suckling, May 2019

Exquisite wine with such freshness and complexity, offering abundant red plums, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries with a wealth of fragrance and gently spicy oak – they used a one-year-old vat for this wine – violets and blood oranges. Profound aromatic purity. The palate is elegant and refined and extremely well focused, so layered and plush and very, very long with ribbon-like tannins. Intensity with elegance and discreet power. A trifecta of perfection, this is the third 100-point rating in as many releases. Vines planted in 1867. Drink over the next thirty years. Screw cap. Only 300 cases made.
