Score 90/100 · Drink 1992-2028, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022

A strong effort, eclipsed in this decade by the superb 1989, the 1982 Phélan Ségur exhibits aromas of macerated dark fruits, loamy soil, sweet saddle leather and espresso roast. Medium to full-bodied, with compelling breadth and flesh, it's fully mature and drinking well today.

Quite tough; still evolving. Furry tannins. Firm. Quite confident and concentrated. (JR)

Medium red. At once slightly stewy and green on the nose, with a whiff of coffee grounds. Shows decent sweetness in the mouth along with a hard edge. Lacks real density. Some chocolatey suggestions of incipient oxidation.
