The intensely lime-yellow colored 2019 Ried Käferbeg 1ÖTW Kamptal Grüner Veltliner is deep, pure and intense on the concentrated, rich, calcareous-scented, very elegant and complex nose that shows ripe and elegant white and yellow fruit aromas. Full-bodied, intense and elegant on the palate, this is a dense, firmly structured, minerally fresh and sustainable Käferberg that is quite powerful on the finish but also fine, elegant, vibrantly fresh and salty. The wine has the concentration, grip and vitality for a long road to go. 13.5% alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in June and, even better, at home in October 2021.

Crystalline rocks, clay marl. There is a strong similarity between the Bründlmayer and the Jurtschitsch version of Käferberg Grüner, suggesting they both reveal their site. Ripe, deep, spiced pear aroma. You can almost smell the peppery texture, to mix all my senses into one. Intensely fresh but also intensely ripe-fruited, bone dry, but full in the mouth. Mouth-watering finish. A great example of all the qualities of the vintage. I sense some oak influence but if there is, it's subtle. (JH)
