The 2015 Château Larose Trintaudon is an elegant, almost Pinot Noir-like effort that shines for its silky texture and finesse-driven style. Offering up plenty of strawberries, leafy herbs/underbrush, and floral nuances, drink the medium-bodied, incredibly pure Haut Médoc anytime over the coming 7-8 years.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Larose-Trintaudon is a little unclean on the nose, while the palate is soft and fleshy but needs more backbone and delineation on the slightly meandering finish. Easy-drinking and nothing offensive but it is not a patch on the great 2014 Larose-Trintaudon that I tasted last year. Tasted September 2017.

48% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot. Dark crimson. Fresh, racy nose and masses of bright fruit. Racy stony fruit on the palate. You would be disappointed by this perhaps if it came from a tiny estate but it’s pretty good quality from such a large one. Reasonable balance and length. (JR)
