The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne 1er Cru has an effervescent, sorbet-fresh bouquet with lime, orange zest and crushed stone aromas. The terroir is beautifully shown here and gains pixelation with time in the glass. The palate is nicely balanced with a Puligny-like tension, yet the fruit profile is not as malic. This is definitely more Chassagne in style, with a dash of white pepper and bitter orange toward the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grand Montagne opens in the glass with notes of pear, orange oil, white flowers and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, it's elegant and tensile, with fine depth at the core, racy acids and a long, saline finish.
