The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne 1er Cru is another wine showing a small reduction, with touches of beeswax, dried honey, crushed pebbles and Vervane tea. This is nicely focused. The palate is well-balanced with a slightly waxy entry. Dried honey, grilled walnuts and a healthy sprinkling of white pepper appear toward the finish. Maybe it was just a little worked in the winery, but merely in terms of polishing a very classy wine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grand Montagne is very promising, wafting from the glass with notes of pear, white flowers, nutmeg, orange oil, green apple and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's textural and seamless, with tangy acids and a long, saline finish.
