Dark purplish crimson. Very well mannered and fresh without quite the depth of the 2010. Very dry finish. Needs a bit more bottle age to ripen. Very claret style! (JR)

Aged 13 months in old American oak hogsheads, the deep garnet-purple colored 2012 Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz opens with a nose of baked blackberries, mulberries and crème de cassis with hints of licorice, baking spices and a touch of tar. Full-bodied with firm, rounded tannins and tons of fruit, it concludes with a very spicy, long finish.

First vintage 1959 and then every year since. McLaren Vale, Wrattonbully, Langhorne Creek, Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Upper Adelaide. No new oak. 13 months in US hogsheads. TA 6.5 g/l, pH 3.64. Dark purple. Shiny. Kerpow on the nose. Polished and leathery. Finishes just a little scrawny but masses of bramble fruit. Neat and flashy. Lots of seasoned fruit. Very clean. (JR)
