Score 95/100 · Drink 2021-2031, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2021

The 2008 continues to show beautifully, and it's certainly in its prime drink window. Lots of ripe black cherry fruits, truffly earth, tobacco, chocolate, and chalky minerality define this beauty, and it's full-bodied, with a round, expansive, opulent mouthfeel, ripe yet still present tannins, a terrific sense of freshness, and a great finish. A gorgeous Saint-Emilion, it has another 20 years of prime drinking ahead of it.

Tasted blind. Rich and broad and savoury without being too pinched. But a very drying finish. (JR)

Blackish purple. Meaty/savoury Marmite kind of nose. Very thick. It almost reminds me of the structure of a Ribera del Duero. Thick and dusty on the end. Very tough finish. Lots of sucky-stony quality. Bitter finish. (JR)
