Score 92/100 · Drink 2019-2026, Neal Martin, Mar 2019

The 1962 Suduiraut is a vintage that has come around a few times with variable results. This replicates the best bottles that I have tasted with quite a deep colour. The bouquet is rich and rather powerful, not unlike the 1967 with mandarin and apricot, that resin/varnish like aromas threatening to ruin the aromatics but it stays in the background. The palate is not as good as the nose, but it is well balanced and quite spicy with a tang of ginger towards the straight-laced finish. Maybe you might expect more given the reputation of the vintage, but it remains a very good, fully mature Suduiraut. Tasted at a private dinner in London.
