The 2002 Figeac has an open and airy bouquet with perfumed red berry fruit, rose petal and quince. It gains delineation with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with rustic tannins, a little coarse, quite savoury in style with some dryness just creeping in towards the finish. I think that Cheval Blanc had the upper hand in this period. Bit short. Tasted at the château.

Mid ruby. Light, vaguely aromatic/minty nose. Delicate-texture with some slightly astringent tannins and without quite enough fruit to counterbalance them. Fresh acidity and some sweetness on the front palate. Utterly unlike the St-Émilion 21st century mainstream but none the worse for it. Very fresh, dry and relatively lightweight. It's certainly very Figeac-like. (JR)

Sitting on the border with Pomerol, Ch. Figeac is a distinguished Saint-Emilion estate that produces some of the region's most sought-after wines. As of 2022, it is officially classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A, one of the appellation's top estates along with Ch. Pavie.
