Score 93/100 · Drink 2010-2032, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025

The 1997 Vintage Port is launched in magnum 20 years after the vintage. They sell it at a slow pace, so it's still in the market. It has a developed nose with complex aromas of iodine, aromatic herbs, tomato vine and a medicinal touch. It's round and polished, sweeter than the rest of their Ports, with bittersweet flavors, hints of herbs and cocoa powder. It's polished and approachable, fully developed but with potential to keep in bottle. A total of 500 magnums were produced and bottled in 1999.

Full ruby. Aromas of game and prune, plus a whiff of sweat socks. Slightly high-toned in the mouth, with moderate sweetness but little real pliancy. Note of maple syrup. Finishes with somewhat dry tannins and a hint of raisin. Lacks nuance.
