The 2000 De Pez is a mid-weight St-Estephe still exhibiting some rugged tannins and a slightly dusty earthiness, but with nice black currant and black cherry notes, a healthy color, and little evolution since I tasted it out of the bottle in 2003. I am not sure this wine will blossom into anything of great significance, but it is a very good wine and should last another 10-15 years.

Deep crimson. Quite evolved and minerally. Lots of terroir apparent on this easy-to-read wine. Very lively and nerveux. (JR)

Beautiful, clear aromas of bright currants, spices and licorice. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a medium finish. Lacks some concentration, but very well-crafted. Best after 2007. 10,000 cases made. James Suckling,Wine Spectator 2003.
