Showing a similar level of minerality, with gorgeous tart apple, spice, crushed rocks, and citrus pith aromas and flavors, the 2017 Chassagne Montrachet 1Er Cru Champs Gains hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, bright yet integrated acidity, a tight, vibrant texture, and a great finish. It’s one of the gems in this report as well as a brilliant white from this estate that should be snatched up by readers.

Bottled. Even more struck-match character here than on the straight village Chassagne but here there’s more fruit at the core to balance. Persistent too. (JH)
The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain is already showing very well, wafting from the glass with pretty aromas of green pear, chamomile, nutmeg, wheat toast and apple. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and bright, with lovely balance and purity, its generous core of fruit underpinned by a lovely line of acid that carries through the nicely delineated finish.
