One of the most impressive Clos Vougeots to have come my way, made from three parcels, the biggest at the top of the vineyard, plus one in the middle and a little in the lower reaches. Extremely dark – blackish. Almost brulee flavours – very rich, very thick and dense on the palate but with real lift too. Somehow manages to be both extremely concentrated and airborne. Masses of character and SO different from the usual stolid or stretched wines from this appellation. Tense and sculpted with a dry finish. Positively chiselled. (JR)
