Score 96/100 · Drink 2023-2035, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

Unbelievably aromatic on the nose and a step up in freshness from the 2008 Le Sol tasted prior, this 2009 Le Sol is a different beast. Succulent cranberry, rose petal, blood, graphite and gristle pave the way for a splay of ferruginous tannin in the mouth. This is fresh and shapely, but it's also evolving and maturing, so you get a little from "column A and a little from column B." I like the duality of this wine. In the mouth, it's exactly as expected: superb; it's weighty in the way that the flavor settles on the tongue, but it's not a heavy or overbearing wine. It has a "league of its own" vibe about it. Drink or hold, it's super good either way. 14.1% alcohol, sealed under cork.
