The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has another quite reductive bouquet that requires time to open. Fine delineation here, yet it feels tight-fisted at the moment. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh. Lively with a saline finish that gets the saliva flowing. This has a lot of promise, but I would cellar bottles for a few years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Réferts is a notable step ahead of the Champ Canet and Perrières this year, bursting with aromas of citrus oil, crisp stone fruit, white flowers and warm bread. Medium to full-bodied, layered and nicely concentrated, it's bright and lively, concluding with a tangy finish.

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has an almost clinical bouquet with taut, focused and wet limestone and flinty aromas, a touch of apple blossom emerging with time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, concentrated and long, the most "gras" of Carillon’s cuvées in this vintage with a persistent finish. Great potential.
