A year-in, year-out best value, the 2019 Château La Vieille Cure is another winner from this château that does everything right. Revealing a deep ruby/purple hue as well as great aromatics of black cherries, tobacco leaf, spicy oak, and loamy earth, it's medium to full-bodied, perfectly balanced, has silky tannins, and a great finish. It's just an impeccably made, satisfying, classic Right Bank beauty to drink over the coming 10-12 years. Bravo!

The 2019 La Vieille Cure is a generous, fleshy Fronsac, bursting with aromas dark fruits, berry liqueur and creamy new oak. Full-bodied, rich and textural, it's ripe and unabashedly modern in style, with an enveloping core of fruit, ripe tannins and a heady, overtly alcoholic finish. That heat on the finish detracts from my score from what is otherwise a compelling wine in its style.

The 2019 La Vieille Cure has a well-defined bouquet of lively blackberry, raspberry preserve and cedar aromas, very focused and displaying beautifully integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied and sapid, with fine-grained tannins, and maybe a little lactic toward the finish, which reveals a smear of dark chocolate and fans out nicely on the aftertaste. An excellent Fronsac.
