The 2020 Vosne-Romanée En Orveau 1er Cru leans more towards blue fruit on the nose, with a bit of iodine intertwined with lavender and iris flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, saturated tannins. Glossy and a little exotic in style, light latte and brown sugar notes detract from the freshness and classicism. It's not bad, though not the best in flight. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru En Orveaux is brilliant, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries, orange peel, peonies, plums, violets, exotic spices and loamy soil. Full-bodied, ample and perfumed, with a broad attack, lively acids and rich, powdery tannins, it's seamless and complete, concluding with a long, expansive finish.
