Good full red. Wild, scented nose offers currant, cherry, dried rose and game. Juicy, brisk and delineated, showing a distinctly imploded quality to the red raspberry, mocha and floral flavors. Firmly tannic but not hard, finishing with superb rising length and lovely perfume. Dense, concentrated and in need of patience.

Good red-ruby. Very expressive nose offers black cherry, mocha, tobacco, licorice and smoked meat. Strong, dense, concentrated and powerful; despite its terrific sweetness and texture this is much less open to inspection today than the premier crus. Showing plenty of oak, especially on the finish, but no sign of overripe fruit. Roty told me he used 90% new oak for the grand crus in 2009 and 50% for the other wines from Gevrey-Chambertin.
