Medium red. Spicy, high-toned aromas of black cherry and redcurrant, with a whiff of exotic fruits. Ripe, creamy and sweet but with lovely tangy acidity giving shape and grip to the wine's intense fruit flavors. Finishes strong and classically dry, with serious, broad tannins. Rouget says this will last ten years with ease. He bottled his 2008s in July of 2010 following a long winter during which his cellar temperature descended to the mid-40s.

Good bright, deep red. Cherry, raspberry, minerals and spices on the nose. Fat, sweet and lush, with the wine's sweet oak element buffering its firm acidity. Offers good body without any impression of weightiness. This has the stuffing and purity of fruit to support its spicy oak tannins. Rouget is aging this in 100% new oak, vs. a normal 50%, but cut the percentage of new barriques to 30% for the Nuits-Saint-Georges because he was afraid the oak would dominate the wine.

This was all put into new oak in 2008 whereas usually it would see only about 50% new barrels. Sweet and violet-scented. Very flattering with real vivacity. Some bright morello cherry flavours and a little bit of oak on the finish but vibrant. (JR)
