The base cuvée here always delivers, and the 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a classic southern Rhône that’s loaded with notions of garrigue, saddle leather, spice-box, and black licorice, with tons of sweet Grenache fruit. It’s medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and will drink nicely for another decade.

The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape is a beautifully Provencal effort that gives up loads of black licorice, savory spice, leather and sweet black cherry aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and already approachable, it nevertheless has the tannic structure and concentration to evolve for 10-15 years.

Deep ruby. Dark berries and cherry compote on the nose, with a touch of smoky herbs in the background. Round and velvety in texture, offering pliant bitter cherry and blackberry flavors and a hint of dark chocolate. Plush, broad and very fruity, finishing with lingering sweetness and supple tannins.
